CRM Data Migration

Move the right information. Keep its meaning.

A migration is not just a file transfer. Decide what to keep, how fields and relationships should map, and how the team will validate the result before switching over.

Start with the data you actually need.

Moving every old field can carry yesterday’s confusion into a new system.

Inventory and ownership

Identify data sources, record types, owners, and retention decisions.

Mapping and cleanup

Define field meanings, duplicates, required values, and relationship rules.

Validation and exceptions

Agree how counts, samples, relationships, and rejected records will be checked.

Make the transition deliberate.

The plan should account for changes that happen while the move is underway.

  1. 01

    Rehearse

Test a representative migration and review exceptions.

  2. 02

    Plan the switch

Agree timing, access, changes during transition, backups, and a recovery path.

  3. 03

    Verify with users

Check critical customer journeys and reports in the new setup.

A few useful answers

Will every old record be moved?

Not automatically. We agree on the data scope, quality rules, retention needs, and exclusions before migration. Anything omitted or transformed should be documented.

Can you promise zero downtime?

No universal promise is appropriate. The cutover plan depends on the systems, data, and operational constraints, with disruption and recovery considered explicitly.
